Question Brent!Need Your Opinion

I have been told by a number of people that even though i don't have a power antenna,i should hook the power antenna lead to a switched 12v.What in the crap are they talking about.I have never heard anything like this before.I have just put in an alpine 7893,and that's what the guys are talking about.

I'm not Brent, but everyone who knows me knows I have an opinion about EVERYTHING.

The guys that told you that are wrong. You can just cover the end of that remote antenna lead so that it does not accidentally touch something can cause a short. That wire is only needed to operate a power antenna. With your deck, there should be two separate remote wires. One is for amps, the one in question is for the antenna. If you don't have a power antenna, there's no need for it and you may actually cause problems connecting it to something else in your car. Sounds like you're better off having installed this one yourself than having them do it for you. Of course I could be completely wrong because maybe there was some reasoning behind it, but I've never heard any sort of reason for that.

Hey,DR! I installed the hu myself,i don't let anyone touch my car. They were telling me when i bought the deck yesterday. Some bs about it would power up the monsoon amp or something. To my knowledge,i though that the amp was turned on when it received a signal from the deck.
