Alpine IPOD interface?
 

Anyone have this yet? I got my ipod running thru my deck with the AiNet Aux cable sounds awesome but id like to be able to control it from the deck. It just hit the market but everything I read for it says 2004 model decks. My deck is a 2003 but still has Ainet so i was wondering if anyone got it working on a 2003 deck.

i looked this up on another message board recently...I have the Alpine CDA-7998, which WAS the top of the line deck a while ago. I've heard that it DOES work with 2003 decks, but the text does not display. It DOES however allow you to control the volume and change tracks. I'm still waiting for someone to confirm this for me, because if the text does not display it would be useless. Also, people with 2004 Alpine decks have said that it takes almost 2 minutes to find a song that they want....apprently it takes a REALLY long time to browse for a song, because the response is so slow. Hopefully you, or someone else, can clear this up for me too ;)

Dood the alpine interface sucks bc u still gotta control ur music with ur ipod. Get Ice Link you will use the MCD controls to control the ipod.

The above statement is not true. W/ the 2004 Decks you can filter through the folders and tracks much like you can with an mp3 disc. go to www.alpine1.com and check it out. I have been told you can use it on the pre-04 decks but in that case you must either control it by the i-pod or move 1 track at a time. The volume control works the same for pre and post 04....

Again, this is what I have read/been told.

that wouldnt be all THAT bad if the volume and next track worked. cause then I wouldnt have to juggle the 2 volumes on the ipod and deck like I am now with the aux in. most of the time I set the ipod to shuffle songs and just hit next til i get to a song i feel like listening to. atleast it will be a LITTLE better til I can get a 2004 alpine deck. the amp in mine is blown anyway. not that it matters since im using 3 outboard amps.
