Alpine 7894 frequency/bass settings- HELP!

Hi, I recently purchased an Alpine CDA-7894. I'm not used to all this control over everything (which is very cool by the way), and desperately need some help/guidelines in how to setup bass and treble center frequencies, Q-factor bass levels, and bass-focus aspect of the time correction. Now, here are my preferences and goals: I listen to mostly rock and rap music. I currently have the bass center freq at 80 hz, treble at 17.5, bass width level at 2 (?), no idea about bass focus. GOALS: currently I feel that the bass from my Rockford HX2 sub is drowning out my highs (more so for rock), and is too boomy. I'd like the bass to be clear, accurate, and tight, but still deep. I'd like the midrange (especially) and highs to be more balanced with the sub. Also, some of this could be due to the fact that I have a good quality JL audio 250/1 powering my 12" HX2 sub, and crappy Jenson 200 powering my components. Or maybe I need a sub with better SQ than a Rockford, like Image Dynamics, Adire, JL 12W3 (suggestions?). But, in the interest of simplicity and money, I'd like to see what "tuning" the settings can do for my SQ. THANK YOU in advance for any help!

Don't boost your bass at 80Hz. Try running a LP at 80Hz with not equalization on the sub. Read your manula and use a tape measure to get a lenght to the sub. It will help you set up the Bass Focus.

I'm think I'm running a 120 hz lp right now, maybe lowering that will help. I'm running the bass boost at 0 right now, with a center frequency of 80 hz. If it's at 0 it probably doesn't matter what the center freq is, right? Thinking about adjusting sub amp gain also. Already measure length to sub, 62". My time correction settings are FL 1.3 ms, FR 0 ms. How does this factor into bass focus though. What's a baseline figure for front components and sub.(no rears). Thanks for the help.
