I was adjusting the EQ on my stereo today, and giving it some good burps up to 149dB and it set the ABS Inop light. This has happened before when I have pushed it a bit. Mostly I am trying to figure out if it has to do with the voltage drop when I am turning it up, or if it is from the vibration. With the car running, it usally doesn't go much under 11.4volts when I am pushing it.

Same problem here, I just had a 300w amp and a 480 watt amp installed. The abs light comes on about 10 after start up and even killed the battery at one point where I couldnt start the car, would only click.

I put a new battery in it and it helped but still came on after about 30 minutes. It hasn't cutoff on me yet.

The one thing I'm noticing is that he ran the main power wire from the 2 amps in the back to a red little distro box by the battery instead of straight to the battery, would this cause harm?

Yeah. I went and got a new battery and it has cleared it up for the most part. If I do any quick burp's with test tones it will still set it and the Airbag light. But as for normal conditions, its fine.

 

argh... I was driving today and I have a new battery, I started seeing the voltage drop on the gauge, I tried to make it home and it died on me. I coasted into a parking lot and now the key won't turn all the way back so I can get it out and it won't start. I tried a new battery and jumping it. I get a faint wine but not even clicking. The beeping because the keys are in the ignition is working even the stereo turns on. I can't get the keys out of the ignition because they wont turn back all the way. I have checked all the fuses in the dash and under the hood(in the fuse block with the big abs fuse) unless there are others to check.

Could someone help or forward to someone who can? Thanks!

you should seriously consider a separate battery just for your system.

 

I am running a modified Earthquake PHD2 amplifier and 2 older Audiobahn AW1200's. I have them ran at 1 ohm. The box is 2.5 cubic feet per sub tuned to 37hz.

With music I have done 148db legal at the dash, and with test tones I have done 150.5db legal at the dash.

 

I wouldn't. Unless your are playing the stereo with the car off alot. The 2nd battery would just become a bigger load to the alternator leaving him less power for his amps.
