A wifes perspective...
A wifes perspective...
Hey,
With all the talk about wifes lately I wondered what YOUR wifes think about certain vehicles that Chevy has landed (especially 06 models). - Or GF if that is the case...
Alittle info. I'm 25 and my wife is 22. We have a 16 Month old girl, and a 2 Month old boy so our vehicles tastes have changed slightly, but not much.
My wife drives a 2000 Blazer 4x4 now. I have a company car 2005 GP.
Now for the List:
06 Impala - My wife used to HATE the 05 and earlier Impala's because of the looks. (She's a BBody fan - LT1). I showed her the new Impala's and she about jumped out of her skin wanting one. (Suprised me).
06 Malibu - My wife didn't mind the 05 Malibu and has the same feel for the 06.
06 Monte Carlo - My mom has an 05 Monte and my wife has ridden in that. She loves the Interior, but again HATES the Exterior. With the 06 Model she LOVES the front end and thinks the car looks 100x better even though the back is the same. (Suprise again).
Silverado/Colorado - She's not a truck fan. (I WILL change this, lol)
Trailblazer - She's rode in my brothers 04 and doesn't like the looks. (In/Out) So can't see much difference in the 06. Also, too big for her.
Tahoe/Suburban - Falls into the Truck Category to her.
HHR - I like it (tried to convince to trade the Blazer on it) = NO... Oh well...
Uplander - Honestly I thought she would hate this, but she actually kinda likes it. But it stops there because we're both in agreement on Mini-Vans = NO!
Equinox - Absolutely loves this vehicle since it came out and will probably be our next purchase in the next year or two. Only thing holding me back is I'm waiting to see if they bring out a "Blazer" sized SUV again. The Trailblazer is too big for my wife...
Cobalt - Nice small car she said. She thinks the wing on the SS at our local dealership is GAY.
Corvette - She loves it. I'm a lucky man, lol.
I think that about sums up the majority of them. In all honesty (basing on just my wifes reviews), Chevy might have made a good step swinging women back to their Cars.
BTW, my wife is NOT a car nut, liker, or a hater; she could care less...
Anybody else?

Re: A wifes perspective...
My wife:
HHR---not too keen but better then PT Crusier
Corvette---hates them!
Well she admits the new ones are better. The front looks good but she does not like the back. We both hate C3s though.
1974 Firebird Formula (my car) likes it. Perfect shade of yellow--not taxicab!
Trailblazer--loves them. So do I.
um...thats all I know for sure. Shes not a car person

Re: A wifes perspective...
So far my wife (27 years old) has mentioned Equinox and LaCrosse as potential vehicles to replace her GTP...
She constantly says she misses her 01 Monte SS though... but, she doesn't want another 2-door car... she keeps asking for a 4-door MC... I tell her that is basically what Impala is, but Impala, both new and old, doesn't excite her...

Re: A wifes perspective...
My fiance (I call her wifey...its close enough to the truth
) is 21, and has fallen in love. Hopefully with me as well, but she really, REALLY wants a new 6 speed G6 GTP coupe. We just got her '99 Grand Am in April, so neither she nor I should be in line for a new car for awhile. After all my babbling about a GXP or an MC SS for me, I've decided to sit tight and wait on a 5th gen. However, for her next move? We're actually thinking 3rd gen
She already has a clean driver, so why not? In about 20 minutes she's picking me up for lunch and we're off to test drive an EXTREMELY clean Purple Haze Metallic '92 RS 305 TBI. I love her taste in cars
As for her taste in new GM models...
Impala = Loves it...but even her first impression lead her to "where are the 4 round tailights?"
Malibu = Loves it, even more so with the new nose.
HHR = Hates it with a pure and utter passion. Amazing how the women DON'T seem to like them, but the men do? And here it was I thought cute utes were for girls!!!!
Solstice = Loves it, but knows she can't have one because if she gets a third gen, we have 2 too many useless cars
G6 = The car that will replace her Grand Am in 3-4 years.
Its funny, she came to visit me at work last weekend and sat in a G6 GTP coupe with black leather for about 15 minutes ooohing and ahhhhing. And this was on a 95 degree day!!!! I gave her the keys to turn the AC on, but even with that it was hotter than hell. What amazes me is that 2 years ago, on this very forum I proclaimed there was not ONE new GM car I'd want to own. Now, on my own Pontiac-only lot, there are two. She wants the GTP G6 (as do I), and I want a blue green crystal ($295 option, and worth every penny) '06 GP GT I ordered that just came in...complete with black leather, moonroof and chrome twin 5 spoke wheels
The interior changes and the S/C 3800 have completely changed my opinion of GP GTs now...I really, really would love an '06.
But in reality, a Purple Haze RS better fits the budget, and what I'd rather own...

Re: A wifes perspective...
No wifey nor girlfriend but many of my "lady" friends are sold on the Solstice. A few also love the G6 coupe. The HHR they are not crazed over, but some do have a liking to it.
Surprisingly they like the Envoy as well as the Cobalt coupe.
But, for the most part many of them prefer the Solstice or G6 to any other product on the market.

Re: A wifes perspective...
My wife drives an 02 Chevy Tahoe LS. It had to be Patriot Red and she hates leather. Since Chevy no longer offers a REAL RED in the Tahoe line, we probably won't be buying another one.
She has already decided that she wants a convertible for her next car. It must be (1) Red, (2) Automatic Tranny, (3) Power Top, (4) Sporty, (5) seat 4 adults. So far she likes the BMW 3 series and the Mercedes CLK. (So I'm guessing she wants a 2-door RWD.) I showed her the Solstice and Sky, but she doesn't like them. "Too roundy" was her reply. I've shown her other new cars, like the GTO, Mustang and HHR, and she likes none of them.
BTW, she also dislikes my 95 Z28, but will drive it if she has no choice, then complain how much she hates it after the fact.
Fortunately for me, we already agreed that I pick out the next new car. The Tahoe will be paided off in April 2007.

Re: A wifes perspective...
My fiance could care less about cars. Shes a horse person and has one. She has a 99 Durango and prefers 4x4s or all wheel drive. Shes eyeing the Subarus for a next vehicle but I'm going to try to talk her out of one and say they're too small and try for something Domestic. She also likes luxury cars that are front wheel drive (wants nothing to do with RWD becasue of the winters and steep hill we live on).
I have an 87 Monte Carlo LS that I was going to sell at one time and buy an 87 SS. She wanted me to keep my LS and build it the way I want to and warned her that the frame is coming out and thats what I did. At least she didnt complain about me taking up the whole garage. I'm in the process of buying suspension parts as money permits then hopefully next year I'll be able to purchase an LS1/6 speed for my Monte.
As for my daily driver I have a 94 Bonneville which runs good, but everything else is getting tired and rusty and looking for another daily ride soon.

Re: A wifes perspective...
If it was up to my wife, we would have no new cars. She hates them. Her daily driver is a 1968 Mustang fastback (302, soon to be 347) with manual steering and brakes, even though she's all of 102 lbs.
Of the old cars, she likes the Mustangs, the 83TA (!?), C3, C2, in that order.
She likes the Viper ok "for a boring new car" and liked the Elise (but not enough to keep it).
Likes the Prowler, I think because it looks so strange.
Hates the new Corvette. Thinks they might as well be Toyotas. Including the Z06. Tolerates my assertion that if there was a Z06 convertible, we'd get one. Would be much happier if it was available without the electronanny and luxobarge BS. (As would I.)
Likes the Solstice and Sky, especially because you can get them stripped. We're seriously considering a Solstice turbo (when available) with no options other than air.
Other GM cars? They're invisible to her.
Yes, my wife is a bit off the norm.

Re: A wifes perspective...
I think I'm pretty lucky. We just had a baby, so she traded in her Z28 (My SS wasn't going anywhere) for a TrailBlazer. At first she thought they were to big, but after she drove it, she liked it. She drove my Yukon, but said it was way to big, so a Tahoe was out of the question. She got the TrailBlazer loaded with everything and she absoultely loves it. However, she recently got pissed when she found out about the TrailBlazer SS coming out. She wants it so bad, and all I do is encourage her
. That the next car to come home I think. Now if I can get her to like the Yukon, the TB SS will be all mine.
