Why did Cadillac Butcher it's emblem?
Can some explain to me, why Cadillac got rid of the Wreath on it's emblem and then stretched it out via paint. It looks awful.

They need to bring back the little duckies...

stream lining the design. I don't think it's ugly.... i don't see it as am improvement either. I actually liked that they Wreath... they could have just made it more modern... but... it's done... and I will like their cars regardless of Wreath or not as long as they are bad ass cars.

Re: Why did Cadillac Butcher it's emblem?
I guess... I always hear that from companies. They are trying to be modern to appeal to a younger crowd. Why alienate your current crowd? I remember the same thing with the Aztec. GM claims "oh we did our research and this is going to appeal to a younger crowd." No it didn't. And this won't either.
It's not the lost wreath that's bad about it. It's really dis-proportioned. |
Re: Why did Cadillac Butcher it's emblem?
I can only guess that it is because the new one fits the current Cadillac style guidelines...low, edgy, wide...not round and proportional vertically/horizontally.

I never realized they did that... yeah, old emblem was WAY cooler.

The just made the change in the last month. It'll apparently take a year before all models sport the new logo.

Re: Why did Cadillac Butcher it's emblem?
Cadillac, like most major companies and brands, has changed their logo in the past and will again in the future.
Also, if a simple, minor, badge change is going to "alienate" existing customers, than they probably were not going to buy the car anyways. In addition, Cadillac, again like all other companies, has to continue to attract new customers, because their current customer base is going to age and new people will be in that age or social range who have different tastes than those exiting it. Furthermore, As a younger person who likes GM cars, I can say that in my opinion, the badge, though not bad per-say, was beginning to feel dated. It had not modernized and evolved with the rest of the design language. As a closing though, if a badge is something that is going to turn someone away from a car, then that car is not for them |

A wreath that is going to help accentuate lower, wider, etc. just might end up looking funeral home logo. The logo went more Mondrian-esque after Zig the Catera Duck murdered all future Merlette use.. WHo knows, I'm just guessing. |

The wreath cratered with under 50 year old demographic... I'd be willing to bet.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-USOXtVoSad...lac-Logo-1.jpg I don't think I have a problem with the new logo, but I haven't seen it on a vehicle in person yet. Cadillac sure has had some cool emblems over the years. |

Re: Why did Cadillac Butcher it's emblem?
My problem with the new logo is that it literally looks like they removed the wreath, and then simply stretched the crest out width-wise using MS Paint or whatever like King Moose said.
Just looks and feels like it was done by an amateur, and just looks annoyingly 'off'. |
