Question about NA Package Price vs Supercharger Package

Would you rather have the 660hp NA package for $13k or one of the two $11k supercharger packages for the 2014 Camaro Z28?

Re: Question about NA Package Price vs Supercharger Package

Huh, I thought Magnusson used a twin screw rotor pack.

Anyways, adding gobs of power to the Z/28 seems like adding gobs of power to a Boss 302 in that it defeats the purpose of a car balanced for handling.

Personally I'd go for the N/A package, especially if the car was going to be tracked. Superchargers are great and they add gobs of torque and horsepower but managing the heat load on the engine on a road course can be problematic.

By way of example, I've added a 300% larger heat exchanger with fans, increased the heat exchanger's coolant capacity at least an equal amount with nothing left but to increase the pump capacity (stocker is 4 gpm and the upgrade is 55 gpm) along with a 170 degree T-stat and full exhaust (no cats and essentially no mufflers with the Dynomax race bullets) and the car still pulls timing like crazy by the 3rd pull (granted the 07-09 cars lack knock sensors and wideband 02 sensors so they tend to be over protective in that respect).

As a drag car or a street car the supercharger makes more sense as gobs of extra power is a pulley swap and a tune away without the heat problems associated with running the engine hard or flat out for significant amounts of time.
