"we already know its coming out, and when"

...original thread was locked for an unrelated reason, so I thought I'd start a new one in order to get some info that I've obviously missed. To wit:

I don't believe there is much doubt it is coming, the $29.9k question is, when? You obviously know. Please do tell.

Thanks.

I thought we all agreed 2006 NAIAS?
No PMs? I do appreciate your boldness in pursuing such matters though.

I'm still debating on whether or not I should use the " " even though I don't know anything more than the next guy.

What will reportedly be at the 2006 NAIAS is a concept/show car. You are correct that we know that. What we don't know is when it will go on sale. I took your comment to mean you knew that.

And I have no problem putting stuff out here for everyone to see. Not being a member of any 'winkie' clubs (and thus not having to pretend to know more than I really do, or try to impress people with my assumed inside knowledge), it is rather easy to be open, honest, and opinionated.

What if the Camaro concept was created in a similar way to the Mustang GT concept, Silver 2 seater? Take the car, basically production ready, and make it more outlandish-over the top so you can call it a concept.

OK, here's my thought, and it's only PURELY speculation.....

They say that history repeats itself, so follow me on this....

Back in model year 1965, Ford intorduced the Mustang. Model year 1967 The General introduced the Camaro, for direct competition with the ever so popular Mustang.

Now, how familiar does that sound now ??

Model year 2005, Ford introduced a hot-selling retro style car, called the Mustang. In model year 2007, the General will release the Camaro, for direct competition with the ever so popular Mustang.

Makes sense to me, anyone else ?? It's basically the same story from 40 years ago.

I forgot about my posting in that thread, and I'm sorry for not responding. Like I said, I do like that you pointed it out. We are all enthusiasts and suppost to be on the same side. I can see how a source might not want to be named, but I'd rather all the info be out in the open. If you keep info in the dark and pass it around to others secretly you end getting info that has been altered by each person to include their own opinions. And by the time its posted, it can be a totally different piece of information.

Well, we will find out when Red publishes his book. I wouldn't doubt it if the Camaro wasn't killed internally at GM, but more or less taking a break. Just publically and legally killed for whatever reasons. Red will tell us eventually (i hope).

My money is winter 2007, aka a 2007 1/2 model.

Unless the Camaro is further along than we know, I just can't see that happening. That means we would have a driveable Camaro out in little over a year.

I'd love to be wrong though, only in this case..

But I thought the design was wink..wink.. "done" and if that's the case my guess is its very much further along than anybody here thinks.

If I'm reading between the lines of our resident insiders posts correctly, then I think its an accurate assumption.

The Camaro won't make it's 40th birthday, but maybe it can be back for the 40th birthday of the Trans Am.

That's what I'm still hoping for, but it just seems rather silly now.

Re: "we already know its coming out, and when"

I'd say it's a safe bet the car is farther along than we (as a group) think it is.

Since January starts the 2007 model year, I'd say that the idea of the car hitting the streets within a year is just a tad optimistic to say the least.

But on the same topic, being that Mark Reuss described the chassis already, and identified the Sigma as the jump off point, I don't believe we're looking at 2009MY either.
