Wink So you want to save the Camaro name???

Want to help the Camaro name continue, but don't exactly have it tatooed across your back, and not ready to sprout a Camaro label haircut?? Well here's your chance to let your opinion be known.

Go to http://www.gm.com/gmcomjsp/contactus/email.html and check off the "I am a current owner and have a question, concern or comment" box (it's the very 1st one). Hit "submit" at the bottom of the page, and fill out the information along with your message (limit's about 400 words, so no term papers please).

Request to have your message forwarded to Product Chairman Bob Lutz. Briefly tell what the Camaro name means to you.

DON'T USE PROFANITY, OR THREATS!!!
The idea is to convince, not terrorize.

If you are going to say that you will never buy another GM product (or will refuse to buy a V8 2+2 that isn't called Camaro), be certain to point out that Ford displays respect for historic names like Thunderbird and Mustang, and you would be very dissappointed if GM didn't do the same for Camaro.

This isn't going to work unless there's critical mass behind this, so don't just say you support the idea, just do it!!!

DO NOT send it to anyone's private or GM e-mail address. Not only is it rude & counterproductive (meaning it could backfire something fierce) but if there is a sudden flood of email to GM's consumer relations site (instead of someone's e-mail), not only will it create a buzz throughout, but also word will get up through the chain, and alot will end up read by higher ups.

This is the tactic used to save the Mustang back in the 80s.

Remember, you are advocating the Camaro NAME, so don't sweat them over the car.

What? You're still here???

This is something I’ve been looking for Guion for quite some time now.
How can we spread the word on this though?

This forum is only seen by a small percentage of Camaro enthusiasts. And I know for that very reason that only half of the worlds Camaro fans have any idea the 5th gen is even being worked on and less than half of those people even know that the Camaro name is now in trouble.

One reason I wanted to get that printed letter that I came up with for the NCM F-Body gathering last year was exactly what you mention about the Mustang. The Ford fans made a fuss and Ford listened. I just keep thinking if mail bags full of “Save the Camaro” letters pour into GM headquarters how it might turn Bob Lutz’s and others heads.

Guion I’m asking you because I believe you know best;

Should I link this thread around the internet?

If I do what should I say to get people to listen?

Should I renew my interest in spreading around my printed letter?

If so what address should it be sent to?

Here’s the link to my letter: (Scroll down half page)
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...=Camaro+letter

Every thing I stated there still stands.

Give me some guidance. I will have a lot of free time next week. Its Spring break for me and all I have to do is go to work for a few hours a day then come home and sit around.
I will spend my free time working on this if I can get some help around here and a little guidance.

Thanks

I'll also write my internet message soon too.

This is about to be the thread that circled the world. And I will begin all of my linking tomorrow on every board I am a member of. I will cover:

Kyfbodies.org
Mymonte.com
thirdgen.org
fiero.nl
gminsidenews.com(if it isn't already up)
cheersandgears.com

Also I will ask those of these sites to pass this on to the boards they are members of. We must make them see the passion we share for this one cause!

I still think we need to get physical letters to GM.
I'm going to talk to Jason and see if he might be able to rework a new page on to CZ28.com that people can easily fill this out hit a button and maybe email it to me. From there I could print them out and send them into GM myself.

With my new jo I have plenty of throw away cash.
I wouldent mind sending these letters off myself.

GM

Done.

I ended my letter by saying "renaming the Camaro is like renaming the Staue of Liberty, Mount Rushmoore or the White House"

Done. I threw in a blurb about how excited I am to be picking up my 2001 SS tonight.

"This will be my third and last used Camaro....and I just hope I can feel the same excitement I'm feeling now about a new car called Camaro in the years to come. "

Nice link.

Consider my .02 "installed".
And done so in the most eloquent and mature fashion that could be expressed in the English literary manner.

I realize that GM owes nobody anything relative to the Camaro, but I liken it to being "Stewards of Americana"...

They created the Camaro and the legend it became, so it only seems right that they demonstrate their corporate pride in America by continuing the Camaro in a form that is respectful to the legend that it is. Profitably, and ecologically sound of course, which should poise no problem for a global manufacturer like GM.

You know guys, there comes a time when some things are more important than the all-mighty profitable dollar.
This is one of those things IMO.
