So You Want a New Dodge Challenger? Get Ready to Pay $80K!

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e=&cardist=444

And another one for $75K
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e=&cardist=460

Of course these cars haven't been delivered yet, so who knows if someone out there is willing to pay that much for one, that is if this is for real?

I really, really hope this doesn't happen to Camaro next year.

The GT-R is automatic and they're supposed to go for the same price.

You can only get the AT for '08...all are SRT spec, auto only.

I'll be selling mine for MSRP

They wont be that way for long. The SRT8 Charger was going for 60k when it first came out and now you can get it for 3500 below msrp.

I would get the GTR instead of the Challenger if they both cost me $80,000. But I don't expect it to stay that expensive for long.

Heh, you guys aren't naive enough to think there wouldn't be some hefty ADMs do you (like this was some sort of Mustang fanboi syndrome)? There are probably ten times as many people as there are Challangers with the kinda loot it takes to pay those ADMs. For alot of people the price of exclusivity is more than worth the hefty markup.

I'm sure the F5 will feature some sort of mark-up if its gonna be as popular as everybody thinks it is (like the S-197 Mustang when they came out), but the crazt ADMs wont hit till the top dog comes along.

Watch and see.

Perhaps to raise some publicity and interest you could not just take the 1st offer but instead get all of them in the 1st month and do some sort of a raffle. Just thinking out loud here.

This is why cars like this dont sell..

and bet your rear gear its going to happen to Camaro..
and when it does not sell as well as it should..you will hear Maximum Bob blast out the dealerships for the problem..and this stupid notion that its dealer markup is warrented.

Just boggles my mind that they want to rape buyers one time and make a quick buck instead of possibly bringing in a new buyer and keeping him with new products for many years and that person being happy enough to return to buy his wife a car, his kids for college and keep them comming back for many years.
So the quick 30 grand is more than the hundreds of thousands the dealer could get instead of this dealer markup? Stupid..

Take a car that hasn't been around in 34 years.

Make the limited edition high performance version the first off the line.

Limit that version to a mere 6000 units, and make it the only one to carry a 2008 label.

That's a free ticket to dealer rape.

The Camaro isn't going to see that extreme markups because it's a regular production vehicle that is going to have volume behind it, so dealer markups will be pretty ridiculous at first, but not astronomical. The highest markups will be on whatever version gets the V8.

But when that "Super" Camaro comes out, then grease up and bend over because you know what you're going to expect. A high horsepower, very limited edition car. It's going to be like the GT500 and SRT8 Challenger all over again.

Both of these ads are from private sellers, NOT dealers.

Some random guys on the Challenger wait list sprung $20 for an ad fishing for suckers. Big deal, its at all not indicative of the market price.

Damn, I am seeing C6 Z06's with a few thousand miles going for mid-high 50,000's now. Anyone who pays those prices is crazy.
