New CTS article at detnews

I read through the piece; seems nice enough. Then I glanced at the spec sheet.

3872 pounds

I'm figuring that's base weight for the RWD DI version. It looks like it put on a couple of hundred over the previous generation -- the penalty perhaps for extra width, AWD, capability, more gears, and general feature creep.

I wonder if that means the AWD version will break 4000.

Well the 2007 CTS-V weighs in at 3850 lbs but it does have 400HP to get it moving. Yeah, ~4000 lbs is pretty heavy but for the regular CTS driver, I don't think it will be that big of a deal. If they truly wanted a fast CTS, the V is always an option.

For as much luxury BS they put on them, I'm surprised it doesn't weigh more.

Yeah. I suppose if you stuck a superchared iron block sohc V8 in the new CTS, it'd weigh something like 4300 pounds.

Why would they? LS7 nicely makes the same power

Indeed. The Mustang Cobra suffers from Ford engine limitations.
