Look at his announcement of bringing the G8 as a Chevy. "Too good to waste." Fritz saw it as that slot being filled by Impala...
Makes you wonder if it would be "wasted" if he wasn't around....
Doesn't give me confindence in Tom Peters who took his position.....
Can he not make a decision? Afraid to? Or doesn't know the difference between a mediocre & good car?

This is awesome news! Remember when Lutz used to give the magazines a good ol Butt Chewing for being biased towards the foreign cars? I can't wait for him to go full tilt! It just might be that Bob is the guy to change the perception of all American automobiles!

Its too bad the guy I WANT running as much of GM as he possibly can is 77 years old...
I hope he makes it to 90. Its gonna take that long to turn this ship around. God bless him...

Yes, as I've been saying, the G8 isn't dead.Originally Posted by 95redLT1

There were elements at GM that was trying hard to make it so, and for a while it seemed that perhaps some of that element might have trumped reason and an extremely strong case in favor of a VE Chevrolet.
Exact words from a "individual" very much involved with this regarding Fritz's public comments about the G8 not going to Chevrolet: "...If he wasn't taken out of context, he's...or whoever has his ear... is going to have a bear of a time making a case not to continue bringing over the VE for Chevrolet". He then went through the reasons, and what's pretty amazing is that a couple of his reasons were quoted by Bob Lutz himself.

My concern with the Caprice is...we could get a VERY different car from the G8. Remember Holden builds a lot of different versions of the VE..from sports sedan Commedore....the land yacht statesman. When they say the G8 won't be rebadged, there may be some truth.

Ideally, Chevy would give it a very aggressive look and market the car as the Camaro's big brother. For customers that want a plush family sedan, GM has plenty of other options.Originally Posted by formula79

This would be a great idea....with all the traffic the Camaro generates this would be a perfect option for someone needing 4 doors. Too bad its a year late. If it had only been a Chevy in the first place.....Originally Posted by flowmotion

Anyone else worried about Lutz downplaying the Z28 in his latest soundbite.
My guess is that, since Camaro is so hot right now, GM will save the Z28 for later in the cycle. The SS car seems to be fine as a 'halo' model for now.

Maybe he is like me and would prefer the LS9? Originally Posted by FUTURE_OF_GM

However....the thing GM most likely will do is soften it up and take the emphasis off performance so it does not hurt Camaro sales. That being said...the G8, and Camaro were far enough apart in terms of styling I doubt they would be cross shopped.
I honestly think most people buy on what style they want and find a way to deal with the rest.

Love the Caprice
, I hope it makes it over here and they import enough to support the Police market too.
