June 2012 Sales

Re: June 2012 Sales
If a new Mustang is sold this year, be it a 2012 remaining on the lot or a 2013 fresh off the truck, it counts as a sale for the year.
If the pace keeps up when all the 2012s are gone, I guess then we'll have some indication that maybe it all came down to the fancy new taillights (which I too dig), but I doubt it.

Part of it may also be that Camaro sales are apparently leveling off....
2010: 61,648
2011: 81,299, an increase of ~32%
2012: 49,697 (thru June), an increase of 1.9% over 2011.

Re: June 2012 Sales
Are 2012 Mustangs no longer considered 'new' cars and are not counted in the sales figures for the year? It would seem to me that any delivery of a previously untitled vehicle would count toward the current sales figures, be it a 2012 or 2013. But I readily admit I don't know how all the ins and outs about how that game is played. Plus, the 2013 Camaro with its updated interior and new infotainment system just started production a couple of weeks ago, I believe.
As far as the '12 vs. '13 rear end, I personally don't see such a dramatic difference between the tail lights that the car moved from "meh" to "gotta have it", but maybe that's just me as Slappy admitted above he bought one because of the "refresh".

Ditto on the 5.0. The 2011's and 2012's were intriguing because of that, but it is the 2013 'refresh' that has gotten me having crazy thoughts of trading the Vette for a no-option GT....

Re: June 2012 Sales
The 2013 is the 3rd time charm. I went to the dealer to test drive one already. Sorry GM
Edit: I also hated the stupid headrests in the 2010-2012 models that push your head down and hurt your neck. Glad they fixed that too.

Re: June 2012 Sales
I really like the 2010 to current Mustangs but I couldn't own one. The seat just doesn't go back far enough for me. I like to stretch my arms and not feel crammed against the dash and I don't get that in the Mustang. Plus I feel the dash needs modernizing, or something.

Re: June 2012 Sales
I have a 2011. I don't like the new nose at all, I like how the hood overhangs, just like on my 65. If it was affordable (it can be done, but you need new taillights, bumper, get it painted, etc) I would put the new tail on my '11. BUT I like the 10-11 tail as well. It fits in fine with the car, but the new tail does look better.
The car was for my wife, it's what she wanted. If the car had been for me, it would have been a Camaro... but I'm not all that into new cars like I am the old ones... check out my signature.

Re: June 2012 Sales
July 2012
Mustang 7371
Camaro 6926
Challenger 3631
2012 Totals
Camaro 56623
Mustang 55995
Challenger 27082
Wonder if Chevy is going to start looking at a slight refresh to the exterior soon. I wouldn't so much mind a different take on the rear.

Re: June 2012 Sales
I'm planning on a new car next year and it was between the Challenger R/T and SS Camaro and the Mustang wasn't in the mix but this refresh has added it. Not going to even drive one until after the first of the year when my money situation is better so my pmt is smaller.

Re: June 2012 Sales
Pretty minor stuff really. Interior refresh (which wasn't really much of anything, basically just changed the original bumper car steering wheel), they added a backup camera option (yippee), added/deleted some minor things. The 2013 models are just starting to show up at dealerships and those have the new Chevy "infotainment" system.
