if Cadillac moves upmarket and produces a product that is light years ahead of the old STS, don't expect it to be the same price as the previous STS, which was running on the same chassis since 1986.

I agree with your general sentiment, but the old STS was not using a chassis from '86. The '98 to '04 STS/SLS (front drive) cars were on a version of the G-body, which also saw duty in one form or another under the Aurora, the 2000+ Bonneville, the Park Ave/Le Sabre, and the bigger Caddy DeVille (DTS).

And that STS/SLS was a great looking car, imo. The interiors were awesome (prettier than that in the CTS, to be sure). If they were on a proper rear drive chassis all along, the press would have been much nicer to them. But IMO they were among the nicest looking front drive cars around.

I thought they used the same basic chassis when Cadillac switched to FWD in 1986, just with a lot of updates through the years. I like the 98-04 STS, is was a very nice car, nice interior, stylish. If it had been RWD instead of FWD, I think it would have been perfect

Just saw a base 3.6 V6 STS at my local dealership...very nice looking in the blue. A lot better then the standard Caddy silver. Interior had the dark grey inteiror and tan interior with the brushed aluminum trim. Very sharp.

Our local Caddy dealer just got their first STS in. It's a black V8 with black leather and dark wood trim. Really, really sharp looking in person. I like the shape a lot. I had been concerned about the back end. In the pictures I had seen, it looked odd to me, but seeing it in person did away with all that. Now, where did I put that spare 50 grand.....

w00t! Just seen my first Cadillac STS today. We were in opposing lanes driving towards eachother when I thought "Damn...that CTS looks kind of wide..." Then it went by me and I saw the side of it a little and it didn't hit me for a few more seconds that it was an STS Sorry, I have to brag
