GM's websites

I think we all agree that perception is everything when it comes to cars and the associated companies.

That said, I am amazed and kind of embarassed by all the website errors I seem to get on just about any GM brand website.

Trying to build just about any car on the websites results in frustration or errors.

The locate a vehicle feature seems to work when it wants to, and even then it seems to show vehicles you arent even looking for.

I sometimes find incorrect info on simple text information.

No, I dont have specific examples, I don't feel like going through the hassle of finding them and posting links, but it's getting ridiculious, and I wanted to complain.

I tried to build a Silverado last night and maybe its just because I use Firefox, but I gave up after about five minutes due to it being slow.

When I was shopping for my Aura I found conflicting information all over the place.. Saturn.com gave flat out wrong info about what features were standard or optional with different trim lines and even GM's own press site had info that was outdated by a year (and a lot had changed for 2009, but the 2009s had been out for 7-8 months already). I even went so far as to use their friendly looking 'contact us' link on Saturn.com and to this date 4 months later I never have gotten a reply from the message I sent them.

I ended up talking to a sales person at the dealership and even she didn't know off hand and had to do some research but at least I finally got an answer for one of my questions. The other question to this day remains unanswered even as the car sits in my garage.

BTW the two very basic questions were:

1- Can I get automatic climate control on the XR 4-cylinder? (I got the answer which is no, it's not available on the XR 4-cylinder though it's standard on the XR V6)

2- Sport suspension comes on the XR V6 and non sport suspension comes on the XE... but what sort of suspension comes on the XR 4-cyl? I still don't have an answer to that one.

I agree, Darth. I haven't visited any of them in a while, but I was always appalled at the Chevy and Pontiac websites in particular.

I remember Pontiac.com would always play loud annoying rock music almost instantly as soon as you opened it up... no warning or choice, just blaring music until you could turn your speakers down or find the mute button on their site. Sucks when you're on your laptop surfing at 1am and your wife is sleeping in bed next to you.

The Aqua Blue Mettalic Image they had for the Camaro was ridiculous and I am sure helped cause the lack of sales. I am not sure what the approval process is or who design's the website for them but it just comes off as they don't care.

I found the answer to number 1 on
http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/NASApp/dom...009&regionID=1

On number 2... from the Saturn site to the site I referenced, I can't determine that there is more than 1 suspension available on the Aura. I have read articles about the 2007 versions saying that the XR V6 suspension was tighter than the XE 3.5L V6, but I can't find anywhere on a GM site that there is a different suspension on any of the models. Very interesting.
