Notable quotes:
"The SHO is at the top [of Ford's performance sedan lineup] and we're going to keep it there," said Steve Ling, Ford's North American car marketing manager during a Tuesday lunch presentation at Ford World Headquarters. "365 horsepower is good. 400 is better."
"Those considering aftermarket upgrades will want to look at the Interceptor," said Hinds. "The police package for brakes and suspension is just a little bit better."
"We will continue to push the performance of the vehicle, and you will see more performance ... going forward," said Celentino.
Celentino took it a bit further, specifically addressing the near universal consensus that the SHO's stock brakes are barely a notch above craptastic.
"We're listening," he said. "Brakes will be better."

How much hp does the Lincoln have? It doesn't get nearly as much press as the SHO or CTS-V. The SHO currently is almost 200 hp behind the CTS-V. While 400 hp will be relatively easy for it, I feel that another 150 hp on top of that is really starting to push the limits of what the factory can do.
Because he could afford to do it, and he didn't have to change very much. He sold the SHO and bought a new A6 Mustang GT.
The SHO is a way nicer car than the G8 but when they're talking about 400hp in 2 more years I can't help but think 'been there, done that' about the G8 which has already come and gone and I believe is a somewhat similar size car. With that said I'd most definitely rather have the SHO even in its current less powerful form.
The SHO is a car I used to obsess over as a kid since my parents owned two regular Tauruses (90 and 96 (first year of the very controversial bubble style), both bought new at the time). When I was 16 I got the 90 as my first car and even though it was a 7 year old car by then I still liked driving it. I used to day dream about finding a yamaha SHO engine and trans at a junk yard and dropping them in to my car.
We're talking 400hp in 2.5 years. That's still 156hp shy and way way late to the game.
I think Lincoln has completely given up on the high performance market. I guess they could always start it up again, but right now I'd be shocked if they offered anything 450+ hp in the next 5 years.
