Sounds like an SVT Freestyle is in the works from that article...

Davis said that next year Ford plans to sell a rear-drive conversion kit for the Focus, with an expected cost of about $5,000

Thats good for Ford and us power hungry enthusiasts! Hopefully it will spark GM to match Ford SVT vehicle for vehicle!

I can't imagine spending that much on a freakin focus, but the sleeper potential....oh boy.

Initially I thought "good news"..... but it also makes me wonder....

The beauty of SVT was that it was small and focused. It was ( or is), run by a bunch of insane car fanatics who were essentially unencumbered by the corporate culture and had no one to answer to (other than Coletti),....doing their own thing in a dark little corner of the FoMoCo world.

I hope more money, doesn't translate to less focus.

I seriously hope so too. But if the 400hp+ 03 and upcoming 06 Cobra as well as the upcoming 500hp L is the direction they're headed, i wouldn't be too worried. They seem to be as serious about performance as they ever were.

Hopefully, the upcoming new additions will actually be worthy of having an SVT badge (meaning good improvement in handling/braking/acceleration/styling over stock).
