I noticed how alot of you, kind of went GA-GA over the Woodward GTO's looks....which makes me wonder if a Camaro Xtreme could be a winner.

Since most people, who would go for that sort of thing, usually can't afford to buy and insure a V8.....how about an Xtreme package available on the base V6. Similar in spirit to the Mustang Pony.

It wouldn't have to be over the top...maybe something like the Colorado Xtreme package....and it should be value priced.

Are you suggesting the 5th gen camaro RS be called Xtreme? And yes i know the 3rd/4th gen RS is different than the 1st gen RS....just so we don't get into that argument

Some body cues and maybe 10-15 more HP over the base model and call it an RS, yup I like that Idea.

 

I guess the question becomes.....Is Xtreme too youth oriented for a well established brand, like Camaro?

 

I think on camaro the xtreme moniker just doesn't quite sound right. Colorado xtreme is one thing, but i believe most young people looking into a RWD american sports car are going to be put off by the "rice" sounding Xtreme label. I just turned 24 and most my friends int he 21-24 age range (the primary demographic for such a vehicle i would think) woudl agree with this. Maybe some other young people can chime in here with their opinions. But young as i may be i think such a vehicle should be bearing the RS name - which consequently I think sounds a lot better now that so many Chevy vehicles getting SS options (SS/RS as opposed to SS/Extreme).

 

"Xtreme" implies immaturity, IMO. it's a word that tries (and fails miserably) to sound hardcore. RS is much more fitting!

I may get flamed for this but I think GM should take the RS model into another direction. I think there should be a base V6 putting out more than the Mustang V6. Then there should be an RS--Rally Sport. It should be all wheel drive with competitive hp (maybe just supercharge the V6) to the EVO/WRX. Then there should be the Camaro SS. A 5.3 liter 325-340hp beast, able to tear through the Mustang GT. Then the Camaro Z28. The Z28 should have a 425 hp LS2, as the base Corvette should move up to 450 hp in the next few years. The Z28 could rape the Mustang GT and be GM's answer to the SRT series of the Hemi powered vehicles. Just an 18 year old's thoughts. BTW, I don't like the name "Extreme" on a Camaro.

im new here too, what id personally like to see would be a base model v6 thats got more than the GT mustang thats what 300HP-350hp? if not in the coupe then in the RS. then id like to see a MINIMUM of 400hp in an SS. then heck lets go all out for the Z28 with 450hp-500hp. thats me im a power an speed freak. i know thatd never happen so id like the same as previously said coupe with more than the v6 mustang and an RS with about the same as a GT. then an SS with a minimum of 400hp to be conpetaitve with the Cobra's then the Z28 with between 450hp and 500hp to take it to anything that wants some. i mean its not like chevy has a problem with putting a camaro close to Z06 standards they had the Intimidator SS with 380hp and the Performance Edition SS in 02 with 380hp. hell they even went as far as to build a ZL1 that has the worlds second fastest 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds only .1 of a second from the record. also id like to see some special performance models like maybe a new ZL1 (but for less money, i mean come on 150,000 is a little high, even for me). oh and Xtreme is def an no go. dog crap is more app. to me
