Wasn't it already argued that more damage is done to the environment; unearthing, manufacturing and disposing of the "batteries" than is saved?
I remember something about a Hummer being of less environmental impact than a Prius, tho a Hummer is the favorite tree-hugger target.
I think their are too many people with too much money and too little insight.

Hybrids are a temporary band-aid solution to a bigger problem. Within 10-years they should be fazed out if technology continues to move in the right direction.

Until we switch to electric/H2O powered vehicles we will always be at the mercy of Oil companies. Doesn't look like any of the major auto manufacturers plan on mass producing a fully electric or H2O powered car any time soon.

They will if it’s profitable. I used to think auto manufacturers were in love with the oil industry. I'm now starting to think it’s a relationship of convenience. Once a prettier girl comes along, they'll move on to something better.
