A bit of excitement over at BON
Seems someone found a picture that has a few photos of the new Mustang's interior on the wall in the background.

Hmmm. Not bad looking. Appears to be very driver-oriented. I hope the design isn't retro overkill though.

I can see the SSR (retro example) selling pretty strong for at least a few years maybe more, but a full-retro mustang? For one thing that would alienate their female buyers, which is where most of their sales come from. So Ford has my blessings to go full-retro and confuse their custoemrs and kill their sales! That'll just seal the deal for GTO 2nd-year or 3rd-year complete sellouts after the 2004 complete sellout.

The next Mustang will not be full blown retro. They will have styling cues from the past, just like all the pony cars have had. The cues might just be different than the cues used in the past generation. The next Mustang will be a good looking car, lets just hope Ford can continue to improve their powertrain/quality concerns.

On the other hand, the retro looking PT cruiser seem to be very popular with the ladies. Same with the new bug. Besides, most chicks dig the old school stangs. Especially the drop tops
.I doubt retro would kill mustang sales.

Well i wouldn't say that most of the mustang sales come from women buyers. Last i checked, the breakdown on carpoint.com was 63% men and 37% women. While that's much higher then the f-bods 82% men and 18% women, the majority of mustang buyers are still men. The mustang also outsells the f-bods 2 to 1. Do the math and you'll see that far more men opt for the stang then the f-bod. So technically, even without the female buyers, you're still looking at 110+ thousand units which aint half bad.

By comparason, last I heard Camaro is about 70%. Not exactly a landslide of a difference.
The Mustang sales don't refect the number of teenage girls that have their car in their Dad's name. So this is why you tend to see more girls in stangs.

First off, I wasn't trying to be a smart ***, so I don't appreciate the smart *** reply.
I understand that you know a thing or to about Mustangs, but don't come on here talking down to people.
As for my rebutal: Most families would have the vehicles under the dad's name rather than the wifes, so I would bet that my point isn't reflected on the demographics.
Now keep this thing nice Thank you.

My apologies. I thought you were being a smart ***. If you were not being a smart-***, then you I disagree - a lot - with your assumptions (that's all they could be...assumptions).
As for talking down...didn't intend it that way, if that is how it came off. I just replied in the same manner as I perceived your post.
