I see the damn onstar fin...
Seriously... there's no better way to "hide" or integrate it into the glass or something? |
Re: 2014 GMC Sierra Unveiling - 12/13/12
The fin is not that big of a deal IMO.

I agree, but it's been like that how many years? It's all about the details now a days and just slapping a goofy shark fin on something seems kinda lazy to me. They spent millions on design for this new truck and couldn't hide it a bit better?

NAIAS starts in January.

Yeah I knew that - not sure why I said NAIAS. They're unveiling the Silverado at a "special event".

Re: 2014 GMC Sierra Unveiling - 12/13/12
Sierra's always seemed to look a bit better than the Silverado, at least the last couple of generations IMO. I guess I'll try and tune into this while at work tomorrow and then look up what the Silverado looks like afterward. If the Silverado is getting unveiled at the same time? I hope the Sierra goes a different direction and doesn't get the stacked headlight style.

Sierra looks good!

Re: 2014 GMC Sierra Unveiling - 12/13/12
I like the way they differentiated the Sierra with the LEDs and single main headlights, but these are still too fundamentally the same in my opinion. Would have liked to have seen further differentiation.
I also don't think they move the bar much compared to previous generations. I'm not a truck guy, admittedly, but I'd probably be hard pressed to differentiate the last 3 generations of Silverado's at a glance. Hate to say it as a lifetime GM guy, but I think the Ram and F150 are better looking trucks :( That said, I'm sure they'll still sell a bajillion of them and I'm not the market for these, so I could be totally wrong... |
Re: 2014 GMC Sierra Unveiling - 12/13/12
First reaction for me is a let down.
They look more like mild refreshes than all new trucks. The interiors let me down too... the dash pad looks like it's rubberly and bloated the ways it poofs out from the center stack, and the glove box area looks clumsy, boring, and cheap. Am I the only one who is sick of the LED accent headlamps already? Probably so. Overall I liek the Chevy better, which is a reversal for me, as I have liked the Sierras more for the last few generations. But I think I liek the F150 and Ram 1500 better than either. Hopefully that will change when I see them in person. |

There are some good pictures and video available on each brands respective web site. Able to see much more detail and differences between the two.

Re: 2014 GMC Sierra Unveiling - 12/13/12
Not as dramatic of a change from the current generation as I thought (which is good in the case of the GMC). I still like them, GMC better than Chevy though.
I'm interested to see how the back seat in the new crew cab feels compared to Ford. I'm also kind of sad to see the suicide doors go on the extended cab, but I assume it is for the better. The engines are going to be great. I can't way to see what kind of numbers (MPG and HP) they get. I am especially interested in the all new V6. |
Re: 2014 GMC Sierra Unveiling - 12/13/12
The pickups will combine GM's six-speed automatic transmission with three new engines: a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8. The aluminum-block engines share the same architecture from the new generation of GM's legendary small-block family that powers the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette that debuts at the 2013 North American International Auto Show next month. The engines will feature direct fuel injection and cylinder deactivation to reduce fuel consumption. GM expects the 5.3-liter V8 to be the top seller and the most fuel-efficient V8 in a full-size pickup. GM does not expect any of the engines to top both the fuel economy and towing capacity of Ford%u2019s touted EcoBoost V6. The 5.3-liter V8 should beat the EcoBoost's fuel economy, while the 6.2-liter will have more towing capacity. GM is expected to add a truck that uses new engine technology or an eight-speed transmission later. |
Re: 2014 GMC Sierra Unveiling - 12/13/12
Can GM add any more bling to these headlights? I mean seriously I've seen aftermarket headlights with less bling than these.
