I consider myself to be a target Impala buyer. Quite frankly the new Malibu is still too small. I've seen it in person and while I do like the looks, I still want something I know the Malibu won't have... a split bench front seat. I know... I'm kind of an odd duck.

Wow, thats going to limit your choices. The only car I can think of off the top of my head with that configuration is the Cadillac DTS with a column shift. Maybe the Buick Lucerne can be had in the same configuration.

I actually like the DTS and Lucerne. The problem is I am a Chevy man. Thus I was hoping the next gen Impala will still have at least one trim level with a split-front bench/column shift option.

It can even be the base LS model as the wife doesn't like leather.
