2012 BMW 3 Series Mileage Released

With the eight-speed automatic transmission spec’d, the 335i returns 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway from its 300 horsepower turbocharged inline-six. Even more frugal is the turbo-four-equipped 328i, which is rated at 24/36 mpg with the auto.
Wow, that is impressive. I'm not even sure the base 2.5 4cyl in the ATS will be able to match that. The Malibu eco with the same engine is barely ahead with 25/37.

Re: 2012 BMW 3 Series Mileage Released

As I stated in this thread:
https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/aut...-847226/page3/

Really though, it's going to come down to driving dynamics. That is something Audi and Merc have been unable to crack despite having newer models. With that, I was at the NAIAS this past weekend and too a good long look at the ATS on the platform. I got to be honest, it didn't exactly set the place on fire. There is something just a little bit off about it. I didn't have any access to the interior, but I like the evolution of the interior layout as the current one is starting to get a little dated.

Caddy also was showcasing their "synch" type system. It was very cool, but I think it would take me a solid 40 hours to get familiar with it. I predict a lot of car accidents.

Re: 2012 BMW 3 Series Mileage Released

If the weight number from the other thread is accurate, it's a couple hundred pounds lighter than a Malibu Eco. If the drivetrain is the same, I'm guessing it should be just as good as the Eco (I assume they won't put the eco-specific tires on it and stuff like that).

BMW forced to lower 2012 3 Series automatic fuel economy to 33 mpg

Apparently the EPA thought that 36mpg was too good to be true and tested it for themselves. The auto 328i is now rated at 33mpg hwy. I wonder if they're retesting the 335i? Its also rated 33mpg hwy.

This happened because in Germany they use the metric mile and gallon
