2009 Impala, what do we know?
2009 Impala, what do we know?
I've heard rumors that it'll resemble the '67. While the '66 is my personal fave, had one in High School, and am buying another, I think the '67 had more interesting 'character lines' that could be used in the new car. I'd like to see the rear quarters with the sweeping curve like the '67, and a more modern rendition of dual round headlights set within the grille, ala Camaro and the original.
Besides being RWD, and moving 'upscale', do we know anything, or have any sketches of what it may look like?
I've bounced around cyberspace some, but nothing very interesting has popped up...so my hats off to GM for keeping a lid on this one! With that said, anyone got a can-opener?

He is somthing Motor Trend came up with, it was featured in last months issue. I hope it doesn't turn out like this, but knowing MT they are usually way off line.

I acutaly like that Impala, looks very aggressive look, very similar to the Camaro, but conveys the image of Impala. Has a nice stance to it, has a very tight look and fit to it. Its very high end, but American at the same time.
I don't mind the look of the artwork shown. It has zero heritage cues though and everything I've heard (which isn't much) indicates a visible heritagetie-in of some sort with mid 60s Impys. Motor Trend also coughed up a hairball.... errr, I mean a mock up of the rear end as well in the same issue - that view did absolutely nothing for me and had even less in common with previous Impys than the front 3/4 view which is at least attractive, I suppose.
I come from a family that has had its share of Biscaynes, Bel Airs, Impalas and Caprices over the years. and as such I have a soft spot for the big car and I hope they do it RIGHT.
I can't wait to see what to this point has had more secrecy surrounding it than a stealth fighter.

I don't mind that rendering...other than being a blatant rip-off of a Lexus, but agree that it has zero heritage to GM.
My two favorite cars, '69 Camaro and '66 Impala. Life certainly would be good in my book if GM did to the Impy what they have done for the Camaro!!

2010, not 2009.
