2008 Corvette Option codes

Dealers are already marking 7500 off 2007 Corvettes, I bet the discounts get even better with the LS3 coming.

What is 4LT? Haven't heard of what one. I did hear the F55 package would be getting cross-drilled rotors as well, though are they still using ones with the vanes facing the wrong direction on one side?

Why does the performance axle ratio say 2.73?

Probably because the stock A6 gets a 2.56 ratio .

Oh, so 7% shorter gearing? Thats not much of an upgrade on paper... I wonder what the difference in acceleration is.

Because with the six speed auto, first gear is much steeper than the old four speed's first gear.

6L80 first = 4.02
4L60 first = 3.06

4.02 x 2.73 = 10.97
3.06 x 3.15 = 9.63 (old performance axle ratio)

With the six speed's top gear of 0.67 vs. the 4 speed's 0.7, you also get a much taller top gear ratio:

0.67 x 2.73 = 1.83 (almost the same as the 1.71 of the T56's 0.5 x 3.42).
0.7 x 3.15 = 2.205

For reference, the current "base" axle ratio is 2.56 (again, it sounds weird, but you have to match it to the ratios of the six speed auto):

4.02
2.36
1.53
1.15
0.85
0.67

Even with the base axle, the first gear ratio is 10.29, which is still better than the 4 speed's first gear with the performance axle.

EDIT: As for the 7% advantage, one does wonder why the performance axle isn't simply standard. The base axle probably helps eek out another 0.5-1.0 mpg for the CAFE ratings, which is significant.

The LS2 didn't have a long run. Will it be kept around for other cars under the Corvette like the G8, GTO, or Impala? I'd hate to see such a great engine go.

The LS2 will have been around for 3 model years. That's not long enough?

It's not like the LS3 is an all new engine. Both are "Gen IV" small blocks. The LS3 will just be an improved, more powerful (and probably more efficient) version.

From what I heard, the 4LT is supposed to have some sort of Bluetooth compatibility or something. I guess its some sort of electronics upgrade.

The F55 has the cross drilled rotors this year (MY2007)

The new blue is replacing Lemans Blue, and the Crystal Claret would seem to have taken Monterrey Red's spot. A pity, because MR and LMB were my 2 leading candidates

Also, note the split spoke wheel options. Hmmmmm

Not compared to the LS1, that had an 8 year run I guess the LS2 will have two engines filling in for it. LS3 for those that want more power and the L76/L98 for those that want better fuel economy.

Will the LS3 use any sort of variable valve timing and/or direct injection?

NOOOOO........I was really looking forward to getting a Monterrey Red C6 with my Iraq money. I'm really stoked about the LS3 though, hopefully it has the L92 heads, 450hp anyone?

If it has either it will be VVT. I don't think GM has shown any OHV DI engines besides the XV8, which also featured AFM and 3 valve heads.
