2005 Buick LaCrosse

Here's a pic of the new 2005 Buick LaCrosse, which according to Detroit News will replace both Century and Regal sedan (not that there is much of a difference between the two anyway)

It's not bad looking... but it looks like an improved 1997 Ford Taurus quite a bit...

I think it looks pretty good. It is a definate improvement over the Century. Also, lets not use the name of any car with the 96+ Taurus. I think the front looks more Jag X-type than anything else which is not too bad since it is a good looking car. The wheels look really good and look to be of a decent size. I would like to see the rear end treatment and a profile shot.

On a side note related to Buick..................I saw a new Ranier yesterday(I had seen them before) and I just thought it looked absolutely great and maybe the best looking SUV I have ever seen. If I was in the market, I would go there first.

Ugh.... That's a far cry from the beautiful LaCrosse concept. It looks VERY similar to the older Taurus. I had high hopes for that car, and the rest of Buicks lineup. Buick's had some great concepts over the past couple of years. It seems the good looks of the concept cars can't make the transition into the production line.

Lokks like a cross between a Taurus and Lexus GS to me.

Geez, guys, it is one teaser photo. I've seen the car in person, and it looks pretty nice IMO. Lutz wants Buick to be sort of an American Lexus (i.e. luxurious and refined, not really a BMW chaser), with elegant but conservative styling and quiet, refined interiors. I too see a little Lexus GS in the front end, and the interior (not shown in the pic) in the car is much nicer than the current Regal/Century insides. I think the car should do well, sort of a lower priced, slightly downscale alternative to a Lexus ES330, perhaps?

Keep in mind it is not aimed at most of the people on this board, just like the Lexus line is not. As for comparisons to the Taurus of '96, well, I guess they DO both have 4 doors. :blah:

I like it. As 96_Camaro_B4C said, it is a car that needs to be seen. Just wait until Chicago. It's sharp.

Well, I'm not trying to bash it, really.....I think it is nice looking, but I do see a lot of the 97-ish Taurus in that front end and profile.

There's nothing wrong with this path of relatively tame/conservative styling... I think this is what is pretty much expected from Buick... a safe, non-offending shape that blends in with a lot of the other shapes out there on the road.

I don't think most people going into a Buick dealership are looking for outlandish styling.

I actually think it looks pretty nice with smooth lines even though to me it does have a resemblance to the Taurus with those separated eyes.

One question though. Why does GM put that Antennae blob right smack in the middle in the front???? it just ruins the image of the car. Can it be placed somewhere else i.e. the rear like the Accord or integrated somewhere else like windshield ala the C6?
The Colorado has the same thing and it spoils the lines.

Looks decent, but hard to tell since it's not an actual photo or not someting in person.

Btw, does anyone have a photo of the original Regal that Lutz canned?? just wondering what all was changed. looks like different front and rear just from tring to remember what it use to look like.

oh, I think I found it. Was this what the car was going to look like, or was this just a small attempt of PM looking into the future.

of the two i like the Lacross better and congrats to Lutz for stoping design and having the Lacross come out instead.

I'd like to see some port holes on that car. I really like that styling element. I love the way they look on the Park Avenue Ultra.

Sharp. Has the Buick look with a hint of Jaguar and Mercedes thrown in. I like it.

My understanding is that is the "Pre-Lutz" design. A couple of the other car mags ran it as well - that's the design that was sent back for some tweaks after Lutz came onboard.

Man, I don't like that at all. This Lacrosse picture has me anxious to see the final car. The only thing I don't like is that the front bumper looks kind of "thin".

What will the engine choices be? 3.5L and 3.9L?
