hmmm... new 315/35R17 tires available soon...

After owning two sets of Nitto 555R tires (245's) on my daily driver (~20 000 miles/year) I was convinced that my new ZR1 rims needed to have a set on there.

I have four 17x9.5 rims and two 17x11 rims. The 17x11 are too wide to really use in the rain/monsoon season we get each winter, hense the need/want for 2 extra wheels, but the 315's get slapped on in the summer. That being the case, I've been hoping for 555R's... only $203/each through discounttire.com (for a 315 that's cheap!)

So what's my point?

Guess what size Nitto has on the list for the next 555R-II? :)
Yep, I got email from them saying that:

That model and size is slated for release in 4th quarter 2003, or maybe sooner
It pays to ask! :)

My 285's will have to do until then. ;)

No, Nitto made the announcement a few months ago now. Last I heard they were due out around the end of this summer. It sounds like they may be creeping on that a little based on Steve's email.

Nitto does have a 315 R, but not R2 right now.
