window guide broke help

so the drivers side window started acting up and i reluctantly pulled off the door panel. what i found was the regulator was good as was the motor. upon looking at the guide track at the rear of the door i noticed it wasnt quite right. the wheel that sits in the guide track and the small "arm" connected to it had separated from the metal trim on the bottom of the window.

so does anyone know what the part is called?

assuming since the arm seemed to be permanently affixed (rivited?)to the metal i will have to replace the whole metal trim piece at the bottom of the window.

i was thinking of drilling and tapping the end of the arm then theading a screw/bolt with a washer through the metal trim on the bottom of the window. anyone ever done something like this or have any other ideas?

thanks in advance

Re: window guide broke help

well i had the arm drilled and tapped with the screw and washer it is holding great. wish i had a longer screw to be able to put washers on both sides but it is good.

Re: window guide broke help

this seems to be a common issue, it happened on my 95 Z and my buddies 93. Broke out the welder and a couple good tacs seemed to work great. the biggest problem i had was after i welded the pin back on, i learned that the pin and plastic roller were so worn out that the pin would pop out of the roller in the track and cause the window to fold over when it reached the top of the track. This would require taking out the entire piece of glass and putting on a whole new assembly. I drilled some wholes and tie wired the roller to the metal plate that the pin connects to. Used a lot of grease as well since the roller no longer "rolls" haha. but it did the trick...
