So did he open up the housings or do it from the outside? What is that stuff called and where can I get it, etc? I asked him once but he never responded. I've done a search before but didn't see where he answered anyone on that. I'm going to search again though.

i've seen the smoked covers, does anyone know where those are available?

It depends one how you want to do it. Those pic you remove the cover and paint eveything except the reflector. The other option is VHT Window Tint Spray. This you would tint the lenses themselves. I used this for my taillights. It tints them without them being completely black. I plan on doing the Lens removal and spray on the headlights though. I have Probeam covers at the moment that are painted black, except for the beam part.

I would suggest not using the VHT Nite Shades paint on any driving light. I painted my aftermarket fog lenses with it and my visibility with them went from 200% over stock to about 95% below stock. No kidding, it pretty much made it impossible to see out of them. I did paint mine with quite a few coats to get them as dark as possible though, so maybe going lighter with it might help, but I still wouldn't suggest it.
