Tires for 18x9.5 Chrome C5 rims Nitto's or Kumho's???

I finally have the money saved up for tires. The Y2K rims are sitting in my room begging to get put on the car. I am having trouble deciding which tire and sie o go with. Nitto 555's come in 275/40 and 275/35, is there a noticable difference in the 5%. Kumho 712's come in 275/35 and are $30 cheaper. Has anyone had experience with either tire, any recommendations? I am going for looks, treadwear, and grip.

Toss me your .02

Thanks,

John

I havent had a set of nitto's on my car before but i have driven other cars with them and they a re a pretty good street/auto x tire for the money but on the other hand i have had experiences with kuhmo's i got 4 kuhmo supra's for my elcamino and they were like $85 a tire and they worked just fine if money wasn't a HUGE issue i would save up for some nitto's but kuhmo's are a great tire for the money BTW kuhmo's won't last tooo long if u got a lead foot

just my .02

I have Nitto's on mine right now and they are very good tires.Even with my heavy foot they are lasting longer than they were expected to.Seems like the more they wear the better grip they have on dry pavement.

I would go with the nittos. I have the kumho's on my 18x9.5 y2k's and the traction is horrible. In the rain they are ok but when it's dry out they don't hook up what so ever and I am scared to corner too fast because i fear the rearend sliding out on me. Don't make the same mistake as me get the nittos.

I have Nitto's too and they're the best. Sweet tread design, the best grip I've ever had, but of course that sacrifices treadware.
