For those that were interested in a new headlamp assembly for the 93-97 Camaros...

As many of you might remember a few years ago, I started a thread to those interested in a new headlamp assembly for the 93-97 Camaro's. Eventually a company called Focus Tech decided to make them. Long story short the full project never got totally to production in the exact headlamp assembly they were going to make.

However fairly recently, they did come out with these Projector Headlamps for the 93-97 Camaro's. http://www.focuztech.com/xcart/proje...97-camaro.html

They seem like they would look a lot like the people who have just tapped into and fabricated brackets into their stock 93-97 Camaros and installed the 90mm Hella housings. However it seems like Focuz Tech's lights have some kind of molding between the lights.

Mostly I was just curious if anyone had installed this on thier car, and if so, what it actually looks like.

I just checked their site the other day after reading all 52 pages of that thread, and I saw this. Looked like just the projectors with some halo's. Guess I need to email them or something.

Essentially thats all it is (90mm Hella Projectors with Halo rings). However if you look at the bottom right picture of them together (the one in my original post), they seem to have a rubber/plastic molding around them. This may make them look a little cleaner on the car than what other people, like this picture below have done.

Again, if anyone has the Focuz Tech projector/halo setup on their car, please post up pics as I would like to see how they look on the car.

It also shows a plug that is for a 9007 style bulb. I emailed him to see if that is the full kit or just Hella 90mm w/halos.

Amazing, it's as if they didn't completely let us down afterall!

I had to unsubscribe from their mailing list (twice) a few weeks ago. They were spamming me like hell about some Impala stuff as usual, but this time it was like a scratch and dent sale or something selling off a bunch of parts from project cars if I remember right. They must be having really bad business, so if you want these things, better get them before they go out of business for good.

They are really, really expensive to not see installed on a car though!!!

In the pic, it looks like they have a floppy rubber thing with holes in it to block off the gaps to the engine bay. If that's true, it could make a cleaner install... or it could make a wrinkly lame looking install.

the 359 is a complete set?... both high beams and low beams???..that doenst seem to bad,.,

We will not be making these headlamps….at least for a while.
I put together a DIY kit with Hella 90mm units and Halos for those who want to tackle it themselves.
This is the reply I got, about that kit.

They run $60 each new in most places. With an additional $20 in stuff from home depot/autozone you can save yourself about $100 and some hassle.

Like with Rytek and the first conversions with the PIAA's (MANY moons ago) it was easier for most of us to just do it ourselves. I would like to see what they came up with mounted, and at the price they are charging one would think they would show it this way. Not like that body style is getting any popular with age.

These focuztech guys don't know what they're dong, don't buy their "kit" and expect it to fit right. $359 would be a steal IF it included a molded plastic surround and some solid mounts. Their half assed setup won't fit.

The Hela 90mm lamps leave no vertical space top and bottom for the additional height of the halo thingy. My lamp bottoms rest on the black plastic of the nose and there's barely 1/4 inch between the top of the lamp and the underside of the hood.

The thickness of the black plastic surround on the top of the lamp is how much clearance there is under the hood, and the lead edge of the hood slopes down from there.

And they don't mention the "clearancing" you have to do behind the low beams...

If you really want these lights (and you should, they are way better than stock), get them from Rallylights, along with the brackets, fab up some mounts from angle aluminum and some top braces from angle aluminum and aluminum tube and screws like I did.

True, I still have the first write up saved, that was posted many moons ago... :)

Here's a setup some guy in another country did. I don't know the language, but it may be helpful for someone. It looks the same/similar to what Bud M did.

To credit FocuzTech, we still haven't seen exactly how their setup looks on a car yet. I agree that you could do it yourself for less, and it does not look nearly as good as a new enclosed headlamp (and thats precisely what I told them when they asked my opinion about going this route instead of the original plan), but I would like to see what their setup looks like on the car before opinions are all laid out on the table.

The very small picture in their discription does show a plastic or possibly rubber casing around the lights, and who knows exactly how they have them mounted.

If anyone has the kit, or knows someone who does, PLEASE POST IT UP!!!

Bud M 03-31-2009 12:14 AM

Wow, that is remarkably similar to mine. Main differences appear to be that he didn't cut into the radiator support crossmember to recess the low beams, and he didn't fabricate a support for the upper brace tubes, he ran allthread through the tubes and crossmember and put nuts on both ends.

turnin20s 04-04-2009 12:48 AM

No offense guys, but I personally don't think that setup looks good at all. The round lights on our cars just does it no justice at all.

I know our headlights suck and something needs to be done about them, but not round lights.

Sorry, but I just had to add my opinion. Somebody should make a retrofit kit and put the projectors without the halos in a square headlight housing so we can keep the good looks of the LTx cars and still have good headlights
