Guys:

What material is an OEM SS hood? Would you rather go with an aftermarket fiberglass one or an OEM one?

Also, anyone know of a reasonably priced one in Canada?

The stock (SLP) SS hoods are Fiberglass (same goes for the WS6 ones). Though the stock Camaro and Firebird hoods are steel.

Unfortunately I dont know how to help you in Canada.

It is very easy to find hoods and I think you can order one from the U.S.

 

slp hoods are not exactly fiberglass they are the same composite material that the doors, front fenders, and rear/front facias are made of.

Get the hood you like best. I live in Vancouver and have placed a few orders from SLP, just be prepared to pay a little duty. Also, shipping is huge on a hood.

 

RTM is a fiberglass reinforced thermo-plastic, and not a fiberglass hood in the classic sense. It is much thicker and heavier than most aftermarket "Glass" hoods.
Stay away from the fiberglass race hoods unless that is what you specifically want. They require many fasteners around the entire hood to hold them on.
