I have a 94 formula with a trans am hatch and was wondering how to hook up the rear defroster. It did not have one on the stock hatch.
When I put the trans am hatch on it had 1 or 2 extra wires for the defroster, not sure though.
I bought a defroster switch from a camaro and it has 5 wires going into it. The colors are brown, black, orange, purple, and gray.
I looked at the wiring diagrams in my chilton manual but couldn't find the rear defroster.
Can anyone tell me how to hook this up, or point me to a wiring diagram?

If the wires were there in the rear for the defroster, I would imagine they are in the dash as well. If that is the case pick up a set of heater controls from a car that had defrost. The switch is built into the controls.

There are 2 extra wires coming from my new hatch, but there aren't any extra wires in my car to splice them into.madhatter If the wires were there in the rear for the defroster, I would imagine they are in the dash as well. I can run some wire from my hatch to my new switch, but I need to know what the other three wires are for.
There are five wires on the switch and only 2 come from the rear hatch defroster.
I imagine one of the three extra wires is a ground, and another is for the light on the switch, but I'm not positive.
Here is a picture of the switch I have:

Thanks.
