Putting Zr1's on my 30th(Z) Painting them white ok?

I am buying silver zr1's to replace the stock 16x8's on my 30th. I have tried to buy white ones all over, but no luck, so i am stuck painting silvers ones.

My question is, do i just have the painter use basic GM white? Or is there something else i should use?

Basic GM white should be the color you want but man save yourself some $$ and paint em yourself! Especially if the wheels are new and clean the paint will stick no problem with very minor if any prep work. Just put enough clear on and you should be good IMHO.

You can save money by painting them yourself.... However the quality of a paint job, any paint job, is in the prep work. You should spend a considerable amount more time prepping the wheels than actual time spraying the wheels. The paint will not stick to them becasue they are new. You need to scuff every last nook and cranny of the wheels for proper adhesion. Otherwise what you will end up with is paint peeling off of everyplace that was not properly prepped. If you have any resolution about doing a quality job of prep work, have a professional do it. I always say...do it right and do it once.

Honestly if I were you I'd spend the money and have them powdercoated. Much more durable.

+1 for having them powdercoated. they'll look much better and be more apt not to turn out with a yellow tint after some time.

powder coating is the way to go. especially if you were planning on having someone paint them anyway. just spend a bit more money and powdercoat them. that would be very cool.

Powdercoat is definitely the way to go. Most clears will turn to a yellowish tint, and it's all that much more obvious on white paint.

You should get some white dymags like they put on '80s Callaway Corvettes. They look AWESOME, but cost you and arm and a leg.

I agree with the others, opt for the powdercoating. It will be much more durable then paint IMO.

While your at it, get the 18" ZR1's and lower it! It's something a bit different and will look phenomenal.
