Re: power antenna

you can buy power antenna kits at most auto stores, no need to get one from an old car, that way it would a universal part and you would know it would work. I think they work off of 3 wires, 1. a constant 12v source, 2. radio power line, and 3. ground.

in that case it would be ideal to just splice 2 wires from a constant 12v and put one on a switch, that way you could control the antenna yourself.

although I do beleive the SS camaros did some with power antennas for a few years,

the nice thing about the GM ones is that they were all black instead of chrome, but i think you can get black universal fit ones too.

Re: power antenna

The Camaros and Firebirds are so close that the GM Service Manual covers both in one. The standard method of doing this is to get a Firebird antenna and put it in your Camaro. It works just fine. As stated there are three connections plus the coax. Power, signal(radio on), and ground.
If you have a cd player in the trunk you can access all three connection off it, which makes the wiring shorter and easier.
