I was going to powdercoat the hood scoop grill and the nose badge (they were both chrome) but figured I would try the night shades on it and see how it came out. I used the flash on the first one and it didnt look right so heres a pic with the flash and with out. I should have taken some before and after pics but I forgot. Tell me what you think.

Did it stick pretty well to the metal pieces. I was thinking of powdercoating my grill but this looks alright and im sure its cheaper.

Yeah. I was going to powdercoat to but decided to give this a try first. All I did was use the rough side of a spounge and scrub the parts with water then rub them down with alcohol. I used like 5 medium coats of night shades and 5 clear. I am usually not very good at DIY stuff but I couldnt be happier with how all the parts came out.

Hey it looks good. I am just curious, you said you used niteshades tint spray correct? Why did you use that versus just getting a rattle can of gloss black and clearing it? Does the chrome shine thru the niteshades giving it an almost black chrome look? Don't get me wrong I like it, I just don't think I understand using an $11 dollar can of paint vs like a $5 dollar one.
Post some pics of em on the car if you would, I really wanna see the cowl grill and nose badge in place!

I did my running lights, park/turn signals, and 3rd brake light. 3 coats of night shades, 2 of clear. Turned out perfect. I have people ask me where I bought my 'covers' from .

Well, i dunno if his did or not, but i tried this with something else just out of boredom and having plenty of niteshades left after tinting my turn signals, and it does give it a black-chrome look if you dont use too many coats otherwise it just looks black.

do you scuff the plastic surface when using niteshades? is it just like painting other things? and when you've done a few coats just clear on top of that?
