Painting help...

I bought a new bumper for my car the other day, and right now my car is Deep Purple Metallia (I hate it) but it will be well over a year before i can afford to have it painted Silver or Black. But for now i want to paint the bumper myself. So i'd like to know whats the best way to do it, and does anyone know where i can get the purple paint from?

The bumper is painted white right now, so i need info on how to strip, sand, primer and paint and all that good stuff.

Thanks.

You can look up "auto body supply" in the phone book and get everything you need there.
Assuming you have a gun and compressor. A pint of purple paint will do-probably 35$ But the problem is that most of the other chemicals needed to paint that bumper are only sold in quarts or gallons.

You'll probably spend $175 and have a bunch of leftover stuff you'll never use. Clearcoat, hardener, reducer, wash thinner, sandpaper..... The only way it'll be worth your while is if you can get a friend to go in on it with you, mabye you know somebody who needs something painted too. Then you each buy your own basecoat, and share the rest of the stuff.

If not, you're probably better off letting a cheapo body shop do it and save yourself the carcinogenic chemical exposure.
