New Carpet or Dying Old Carpet...?

New Carpet or Dying Old Carpet...?
As of now my Z has the terrible "neutral" color carpet with the ever-so-standard light gray plastic trim everywhere. A while back, I installed dark grey leather seats out of a 98 transam... and now Im wanting to change the rest of the interior to match them or at least have the colors flow a little more. I was wondering if would be easier/cost effective to take out my old carpet and simply dye it or buy new carpet??? I would like to change it to either black or dark gray... Any one done anything like that before?
Also would it be easier to take out my old plastic pieces and paint them dark grey/black instead of spending all the money for replacements??
Any suggestions/comments?

dye it...costs you maybe $15 in dye from Wal-mart. Nice color car choice! Here is my thread doing exactly what you are talking about...but I just ended up using leather saddle dye for the seats:

Including door panels, the entire project cost me about 250 to take everything from faded light grey to BLACK. I did everything myself so ask any q's you may have!
Good luck bud make that Quasar blue shine

Just buy new. No dye that you are gonna be able to buy for cheap is gonna last along time. It will eventually fade. I work for a detail shop and we dye seats and carpet everyday. Its only good for about 3 months of wear.

^^^That is probably true, however I have dark tint and floor mats in my car...very little light ever even hits the carpet. Only time will tell but mine is good so far for 10 bucks...it was worth a shot..esp compared to my original carpet which was heavily stained.
