In the meantime until I get a SS hood for my car, I wanted to do something with my stock hood to make it stand out a little.

I know the pictures aren't that great, but I removed the "heat extractor" plates and painted them silver, then went through the painstaking process of handpainting every little dimple on the plates gloss black. It took over 2 hours total to do, but I am very happy with the results. After clear coating them with 3 coats of spray-on clear coat they look amazing. It truly is the little things that count. When my car is clean, my hood looks at least 2 times better

Just kidding man, but I would never take that much time to do that. It probably does look pretty neat though, just need some better pictures to tell.

thats alot of time to spend on something so small, but it does look really good. painting on the black holes definitly adds depth to it.

That is totally awesome. I looooove to see people do stuff to their cars that doesn't consist of putting on some $5 cookie-cutter appearance gimmick they bought off Ebay.

Nice job getting all the holes to look round.

I did this to my car a couple of years ago, it really makes them stand out and I think it goes well with my silver Z28 badges. I need to redo mine, because a after a couple years of bugs and washes the silver paint is starting to chip off in places. I don't have any close ups, but I think you can make out where some of the silver is coming off on mine.
I am not looking foward to redoning them, like 94LT1Z28 said its very time consuming to do.

after you paint them put on the clear coat and they shouldnt chip, as long as you put enough on to protect them
