how to remove bulb above power lock switch?
How do you remove that bulb that is just above the power window and door lock switch?
I removed the gray plastic cover around it and tried pulling on the wires some and also tried pulling on the bulb but couldnt get it out.. How does it come apart? |
If i'm not mistaken the door panel needs to come off and it disconnects from the back, not too sure though it's been a while. Just take the panel out, it only takes a few minutes.
|
yeah I have the door panel off.. but looking at the actual bulb... does it come out of that plastic piece or do the wires come out of the plastic piece that the bulb sits in to remove it.
|
I have no clue man, i would guess that the whole assembly comes out, wires and everything then you remove the bulb.
|
Simply pull the bulb out of the socket.

I've never been able to pull the bulb outta those damn things in the past, is there a trick to it? I used to go looking around junkyards all the time and would cut a good harness and bulb out of another car and cut the one out of my car and then butt connect the good one in.
Can you buy that bulb at somewhere like AutoZone or does it have to be ordered through a dealership? |
the little bulb should come out just by pulling on it. yea you can buy a bulb from any auto parts place. it should be in their computer i beleive its a number 70 but let me go look.

In a 1996 Camaro, the interior door handle replacement bulb is a #74. You can get it at any auto parts store.
It does pull out of it's socket housing. To remove the bulb/socket housing assembly from the door handle side panel, all you have to do is twist the socket assembly (1/4 turn if I recall correctly). |
yea 74 bulb
|
yeah that was it... just pull it out of the socket.. Took some force.. Always worried about breaking bulbs like that when pulling hard. thanks
|
I didnt need to remove the door panel o my 1995 Trans Am.
