how hard is it to take off clearcoat on wheels

if i decide to clearcoat my wheels which im going to do BTW, if it starts to flake off over time, or peel, how hard would it be to strip off the clearcoat, what would i have to do to get it off the wheels is it easy to do

Easiest way is to use paint stripper but then you have to paint the color on too not just the clear

let the stripper "soak" for about an hour or untill it's all crinkley and dry then take a plastic scraper to it finish off with a brush
clean with dish soap and water let dry then you can start painting

i have polished alum wheels, so no need to paint, the stripper wont hurt the metal will it

no they dont have clearcoat on them, im just sick and tired of polishing them all the time, thats where the clearcoat comes in, if i prep them right and give them a couple of coats, it will be alot easier cleaning them, i just wanted to make sure if they start to peel off i can take off the clearcoat without ruining the wheels

They don't have a clear coat, that's why he is asking if it's easy to remove so if it peals AFTER he clear coats them he can get it off :)

Oh duh I can't read ;)

Yea it will be easy. Read the back of a can of stripper make sure it won't screw your aluminum though If I stop by autozone tomorrow I'll take a look at em and let ya know
