Headlight sensor in dash

Alright, I'm planning on doing the auto headlight disable mod on my 2000 Camaro SS. I've read plenty of threads on what to do once you get to the sensor, but how do you lift up the dash?

Specifically, where on the dash do I pull up on and what tool(s) do I use? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Its easy, just lift the panel right where the top of the dash is (I guess you can use a screwdriver, I used my fingers) around the middle and gently pry it up. Hope that helped.

Ok, I'm gonna need a bit more specificity than that. The "top of the dash" is quite a large area. I don't mean to be a smart ***, but I'm not looking to damage anything. So, where exactly to you pry it up at?

The big flat peice "dash pad" just start at one side and pull up they have some really tuff velcro under there just be careful not to crack the pad because alot of people do that (not me though) just work across the dash slowly pulling up on it

Before you can lift out the dash pad, you need to take off the pillar pieces. On a t-top car you just take the tops off and theres 2 screws that hold them up. Just take them off and pull until the clips realease. I don't know how to do it on a non t-top car. Later

Ok, I've got three answers here on lifting up the dash to get to the auto headlight sensor. One says lift up the dash in the middle, one says start on one side and move across, and one says I need to remove my t-tops...who has the right answer?

I thought this was a simple process, but I'm finding out otherwise before I have even started.

I know this mod has been talked about quite a bit, but my searches don't come up with anything very specific on lifting up the dash.

Anyone else have experience with this mod?

If I remember correctly...in the center of the dash just in front of the air vent you should be able to get your fingers or a small screwdriver in the split in the dash. I just pried that piece up, gently, enough to unplug the sensor and stretch the wire out from under the dash (the wire should be more than long enough). After that I bent a paperclip into a "U" shape and inserted it into the plug and then covered it with electrical tape. Took about 15 minutes.
