Wrong, oem is not steel. I don't believe its actually fiberglass either its just a light weight composite material. If you get a pic of the underside of the hood i can probably tell you if its OEM.

Re: difference between oem and aftermarket ss hoods....

Here is what SLP's website says
"This aggressive tear drop style functional air intake scoop will set your Camaro apart from the ordinary crowd. The hood is designed to work in conjunction with SLP original SS air box assembly and provide ram air effect cold air breathing to your engine. Gains of up to 10 to 15 additional horsepower are possible. Manufactured from an OEM-quality sheet molded compound (SMC) process providing a stronger, more durable hood with integrated adjustable hinges. The hood is shipped to you (or your body shop) ready to prep, prime and paint. All necessary hardware and detailed instructions are included."

I think its not fiberglass either.

Can you get a pic of the underside. If so i believe all SS's have an identifying seem in the hoods. My buddies 97SS had this seem and i've never seen an aftermarket hood with one.
