Body Kitss--Get them professionally installed?

Thinking of getting a Wings West body kit for my 94 z28. Looks so sweet but wondering what the hassle would be to install it myself... anyone have any experience w/ body kits?

I put the body kit on my 95Z and my 99Z with help from my dad. Its not hard. The 95 was a wings west kit. The only hard thing was getting the back panel to pull up over the bumper and not sag down. I have a Xenon kit on my 99. It fit up much easier.

It's easy, just get someone to help you hold it up so you can get it straight! It's pie, don't waste your money getting someone to do it!!

Installing them is easy with a friend, I would advise to use some Epoxy and not trust the double sided tape. The tape works well but eventually it will loosen. Epoxy ensures that it will never come loose.

I drilled through the bottom and lip that makes contact with the actual body of the car, then put screws in.I can remove them and reinstall whenever should I need to.Screw the tape,it sucks....which is the reason I am on GFE set #2

Exactly, the tape sucks for sure. Every inch of my gfx on my 95 camaro had to be epoxied because the tape loses its grip. I think I heard once that airlines were going to hold planes together by doublesided tape hmmm, yeah that will work.

I never heard of using epoxy, what kind did you use?

Buffdaddy 01-24-2004 09:05 AM

You can buy the Epoxy at Autozone. It is glue that acts like cement and it only takes minutes to hold if the weather is warm. I would not bother with it in the cold. It comes in a little tube and you mix it up and apply. It works great!

You know the name of it?

Buffdaddy 01-24-2004 08:43 PM

I know one kind is Permatex, the kind I used had a tube that was one side blue and the other side clear, it mixes clear though so do not think the finish is blue. You will find it because the package is clear. I think the name may be plastic weld:think:
