You should have them media blasted or stripped to the metal

Well, mine happen to be powdercoated white so you can bet that I spend alot of time cleaning them.

The best move I made was to wax them when they were brand new. Small little sand dings or pits etc. are inevitable, and I found that this aluminum wheel cleaner works Very well if any type of grease etc.. gets on them.

I definately wouldn't use any type of abrasive cloth.

Oh, and simple green works good.

i am a fellow powdercoater. i would not recommend ANYTHING even slightly powerful. i use dish soap on mine. also use a very soft cloth and make sure not to get anything embedded in the cloth as you clean. i think simple green might be good, but dont leave it on long at all. i might even dilute it, but you just cant beat dishsoap...on a sidenote i have dark metallic rims, not white tho...

I just wash mine when i wash the car with the same soap, if they get dirty inbeween washes i just wipe them down with a dry rag. 2 years and they still look new...dont think i could scratch em if i tried.
I also wax them when i wax the car, although it doesnt make a noticable difference
