93-96 Custom A Pillar

Hey everyone,
This is my first post and I did not find much information on this topic during my searches so I figured I would create a new thread. This is detailing how I made a custom A pillar for my 96 Z28. I am trying to post pictures aswell but, like I said this is my first post so I will have to figure out how first. I already created a photobucket account but, can't figure out how to link them. This triple pod pillar turned out awesome in my opinion! I did not want the look of a black dual pod screwed into my gray interior panel so I went one step farther. I have considered making these and selling them on ebay or something (I am not sure how to do it on here securely). I epoxied the piece, fiberglassed it, bondo, textured, and painted it.

It took me a good amount of time to pull off and I think it looks good. If anybody can help me uploading pictures I would appreciate it. Let me know if anybody would be interested in something like this.

Re: 93-96 Custom A Pillar

I was thinking about selling the single and dual pod pillar for $100 if you guys send me your existing A pillar ($125 if I have to find and buy a factory A pillar to work off of) and $125 for the triple if you send me your factory A pillar ($150 if I have to provide one). I think this is a pretty reasonable price considering the Autometer piece is $50-$60. It is far stronger than the Autometer piece and I still manage to utilize the 2 factory mounts that Autometer omits. I wish I could post more pics but, I am limited to 5 on Photobucket. I would prefer to ship them to you prior to texturing and painting. This way you would be responsible for obtaining the right texture and color match. If you really wanted me to do this I would for $10 more and I will do everything I can to get great results (It would be as close to perfect as you can get). Let me know if anyone is interested.

Re: 93-96 Custom A Pillar

It took me about 4-5 days from start to finish and about 6-8 hours. Fiberglassing and bondoing wasn't bad. The time consuming parts was sanding. The density of fiberglass requires a lot of sanding to begin with and then when you add in the curves and transitions it makes it a little more time consuming. Patience is the key! I also maintain the 2 mounting tabs of the factory piece that the aftermarket pieces omit so it will mount a little stronger and be less suceptable to vibration.
