1969 z28 emblems

I want to use these instead of the stock emblems, how difficult is it to remove the stock badges and put these ones on? any info is appreciated

the stock ones just pull off......the 69 emblems look realy nice....i used
3m double stick tape.....been on for 3 yrs now......im not sure about your car, but on the 2002 camaro, i had to bend the emblem just a bit to get it to flow with my fender

yeah figured I have to roll the emblem, did you just grind down the post where its supposed to mount?

BassProCamaro97 09-23-2007 12:05 AM

I did this last year. The stock emblems can be removed by using a piece of fishing line to "floss" the emblem away from the body. Then use mineraly spirits or a good rubbing compound to remove the left over adhesive.

I used the grill emblems off a 69 all the way around my car.( They are bigger and come straight as opposed to the fender emblems which are curved) I had to ue a grinding wheel to remove the mounting posts as well as the grill inserts piece on the back of the emblem. Then used 3M double sided tape to attach them. You are going to have to bend them to get them to look right.

Good luck they look awesome when they are done.

Everything they said. I got them on mine and they look great. I get lots of compliment on them. Especially from the older guys.

yeah, I thought it would be a good twist for my car considering it's a 96 and putting on my dad's original 69 z28 emblems the only thing left from his old 69 z that was hit and totaled in a parking lot by a drunk driver

The old emblems are 100% better also I might add. They'd also compliment my grille I just bought ;)

Beautiful camaro! Where did you get your gas tank door? easy to install?

Ponykillr 09-26-2007 11:59 AM

Its of a Mitsubishi Eclipse. It is not that hard to install, you will need a motor tool though to get the rivets out holding in the old door.

Bump...sorry to beat a dead horse...again

What would be the best way to bend these original '69 emblems I have without damaging them? or should I try to find the grille emblems?

Ponykillr 01-25-2008 04:46 PM

I put the 69 fender emblems on my fender. I flattened them out but removing the studs with a drimmel then placing the emblems between two college books. I then jumped up and down on the top book. Ta da ;) For the front and back I used two rear 69 emblems. I drilled holes for the back and attached like you would on a 69. It should fit flush enough when tightening the bolt on the back. If not just add some 3m tape. The front emblem was attached to the aluminum grill with just 3m tape.

cool man, I'm gonna try the book flattening method. I never even thought about it, looks like the websters dictionary will come in handy. ;)

everyone says use 3M tape to apply emblems. are we talking scotch tape or the thicker foam tape?

Ponykillr 01-28-2008 11:35 AM

Its thick double sided tape. usually grey in color and has red plastic protection on one side. You can find it in a lot of places. the easiest place to look would be any auto store, look for molding tape. 3m calls it molding tape or body adhesive etc. It doesnt seem sticky to the touch but it holds like hell to your car.
