LT4 Hot Cam DCR ? - Should SCR be raised?

LT4 Hot Cam DCR ? - Should SCR be raised?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was wondering if the LT4 Hot cam would benifit from a higher static compression ratio?

Has anyone done the calculations to see what DCR is generated by the Hot cam with the stock 10.5 / 10.8 static compression?

I am kicking around the idea of building a 355/383 LT4 conversion. With 6" rods the compression gets pretty high with a stock chamber volume. I would rather run flat top pistons without major dishes. That is why I was wondering if the Hot cam would lower the DCR enough to safely run a higher SCR.

Thanks

Rod length has nothing to do with CR. The Hot cam wouldn't be my first choice for a stroker, but I wouldn't worry about using it with a marginally higher CR than stock.

I mentioned the 6" rod because the lower compression flat top piston options were more limited than the 5.7" setups, I assume because the pistons are shorter. All things equal, you are correct rod length does not affect compression.

The root of my question has the most to do with the overlap and duration of the hot cam. Does it reduce the static compression enough to be a factor?
