Problem with connecting rods. Need help!!!!

I bought an 8 used connecting rods but the previous owner messed with it. Lest say that connecting rods are made from upper part and lower part (that holds piston). He sends me the upper parts and lower parts of the connecting rods not connected. Now I don’t know witch upper part of the connecting rod fits to the exact lower part of the connecting rod. My friend said that they have to be together all the time and if I will put upper part of the connecting rod #1 to lower part of the connecting rod #4 I will mess-up my engine (because bearings won’t fit correctly and oil pressure will be low). Is that true?

Yes and no..Probally so..

Its best to take them to am achine shop assembled and have them rized anyways..That way they will be on point and you have less worry.Ask to have them fluxed and then rezized on teh big end..What kind of rods are they? If they are eagles with bushings its a good time to have the bushings replaced with crower bushings..eagle makes a decent 2pc forged H beam but the bushings suck

Like a puzzle, you could try each cap on each rod, and check how the seams line up. Checking with a bore gage would be even better.

I'm not too keen on buying used rods that "the previous owner messed with". Used engine parts are like used brides...you aren't sure how they were used.

Rebuilding/resizing the rods will cost a big % of the cost of new rods with 0 miles on them. That would be my choice. Will he take the parts back? Offer him 15% "restocking" charge.

Scat I-beams... ~$250. Tough deal to beat.
