OL SD Tuning
I posted this on the LT1 Edit mailing list and received no response.
So here it is.
Ok, I've got a question about tuning theory that I want to run by everyone. I'm tuning my car for speed density and likely open loop as well (currently tuning in open loop by setting the target afr to 13.0 and monitoring deviation from that with a wb and adjusting the ve table accordingly). The question is this. Assuming a near perfect ve table and open loop operation, could not all adjustments then be made through the open loop afr vs load vs temp tables? In other words, not using any PE and instead relying entirely on the open loop afr table. This is currently how I've got things set in the interest of fine tuning the ve tables as it is difficult to get the high load areas with PE kicking in, so I've disabled it. When I've got the VE tables finalized (if that actually ever happens ;-) ) I may leave it like this as it seems very repeatable and easy to adjust. Does anyone foresee a problem with this approach? Now I understand that if I opt for closed loop operation then PE strategy will be required but what about open loop operation?
